Tips for Teachers in the Classroom

Welcome teachers and others helping to educate those affected by AS.

We've  compiled a list of different tips, tricks, etc. that some of our children's teachers have found affective, and will continue to update it.  Many of these are beneficial to all students!

The bad news for educators is that no two children with Asperger's exhibit the same behaviors.  These individuals are all very unique and have varying signs and symptoms.  But don't give up!  Keep trying a new technique.

Social Stories
Role playing
Consistency - many of these kids do not deal well with change!
Visual support and cues
they are concrete thinkers - avoid using idioms and figures of speech because they may not get it.  for example, "It's raining cats and dogs".

More to come...
